OUR COMPANY
It is a family business and has been producing organic wine and EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE oil for 40 years. In the early 1970s, our father Antonio returned from Switzerland. He had always been a lover of nature, and he cultivated his land and produced oil and wine with all his passion and dedication, transmitting these values also to his son Giovanni Battista, who from a young age began working the family land.
In 2011, Giovanni Battista returned to Frascineto (CS), following various life and work experiences in Italy and abroad, together with his wife Miranda with varied paths of study and life plans, and together decided to promote the cultural heritage of the place and to invest their passion in founding the organic farm Terre Apollineus.
The deep-rooted traditions of this territory and the qualities of these plants and these lands led us to produce our organic extra virgin olive oil. Following the agricultural vocation of the Pollino area, whose very name echoes the production of curative and healthy plants, the company offers completely natural products. We cultivate our lands consciously, with great care and without the use of herbicides, pesticides or any chemical fertilisers. However, while maintaining respect for the traditions of the territory and the authenticity of the fruit of origin, innovative methods and tools have also been adopted, in order to improve the quality of the product without causing damage to the natural environment.
Our company’s olive groves extend for about 10 hectares on hilly terrain in countryside of the municipalities of Frascineto and Castrovillari, at an altitude of about 450/500 m.a.s.l., with red earth rich in iron and excellent drainage, which provide very homogeneous fruits, thanks to excellent exposure of the plants to the sun and the morphology of the soil. The plants of our olive groves are the Roggianella cultivar, typical of the area, and the Carolea the most widespread cultivar in Calabria.
